Xiaomi’s Redmi S2 was leaked in all it was glory a few days ago, and we also saw a glimpse of its specs as well as the design of the device. Which isn’t any different from the Redmi Note 5 Pro. And now here comes the launch date for the Redmi S2, which the Chinese giant announced via its Weibo account(Chinese micro-blogging site), is set on 10th May 2018 in China.
Moreover, the device might be targeted towards the budget audience, who don’t want a Redmi Note 5 Pro but for looking at something affordable, with dual-cameras. This is expected to sit below the Redmi Note 5 mode and above the Redmi 5A Plus. Specs wise the Redmi S2 will be powered by the tried and tested legendary Snapdragon 625, which is famous for its super battery efficient characteristics, along with 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB and a 4GB/64GB RAM and storage options to choose from.
On the front, a 5.99-inch HD+ display is present, with the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio. And the fingerprint reader is mounted at the rear of the device. Moreover, Xiaomi’s CEO also hinted that they’re also working with Google to churn out not one but two Android One devices. So, the Redmi S2 could also be sold as an Android One device in select markets, but this is just speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.
After the launch in China, we could see the Redmi S2 might launch in India as well as in European markets as Xiaomu had Officially entered the EU markets last week. Pricing for the Redmi S2 will start from $175 for the base model.
