According to some recent reports, the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi that is the Redmi Note 5 is currently going through internal testing and will be launched in Q2 of 2018. The rumors are claiming that the Chinese company might launch the Redmi 5 Plus smartphone instead of the Redmi Note 5 as a successor to the popular Redmi Note 4.
The launch of the Redmi Note 5 has been apparently delayed as the Chinese company is waiting for Qualcomm to launch it’s Snapdragon 632 chipset which is the toned down underclocked version of the Snapdragon 636 chipset. However, the a Snapdragon 632 contains Qualcomm spectra 160 ISP modem which is better for dual camera modules.
Regarding the specs the device might have a 5.99inch Full HD+ display with a pixel resolution of 1080×2160, snapdragon 632 processor with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal memory.
Coming to the camera department, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to come with a dual camera setup in which one of the modules will have a 12MP sensor. To the front, the device will have a 5MP camera along with a 4,000mAh battery.
Rumours suggest that the Redmi Note 5 will be priced higher than its predecessor and will be available in two variants – Base model might be priced at CNY 1,599 ( Rs. 15,600). The device is expected to launch in the second quarter of this year. However, no one knows when will the smartphone be launched in the Indian market.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was a huge success, especially in the Indian market with the company selling over a million units a month during the second half of 2018. So the Redmi Note 5 will have the task of fitting into the expectations of the people after its launch as the Redmi Note 4 helped Xiaomi to become the biggest smartphone vendor in India in the last quarter alongside Samsung.
