Yesterday a new smartphone was launched by Xiaomi in China, the Xiaomi Mi Play, which is clearly made for the tight budget people.
Xiaomi is releasing 5.84inch full HD+ display smartphone. The screen resolution is 1080 x 2280pixels and the bezels can be seen on the edges while the aspect ratio has been kept at a decent 19:9. There is the waterdrop notch on the display to house the front camera.
The processor used in this phone is said to octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, together with the IMG GE8320 GPU for graphics. But there is not much information about chipset used because is the first phone out with it.
The RAM is 4GB and internal storage 64GB. It is operating on the Android 8.1 Oreo with the inevitable MIUI 10 over it as the skin.
The phone is priced at ¥1099 or $159. The phone can be found in three colors, blue, red and black.
The camera used in this phone also seems good. As a dual camera setup in the rear, with a 12MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary sensor. The front camera for selfies is an 8MP one. There is an LED flash in the rear panel.
The new Xiaomi Mi Play also features a microSD slot to carry the storage up to 256GB. In terms of the other option, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS are all useable and the sensors in this phone include an accelerometer, ambient light, geomagnetic, and gyroscope.
The physical fingerprint sensor is at the back of this phone and a 3000mAh battery to power the phone.
The thing which is quite surprising that Xiaomi is giving free 4G data for one year if you buy this phone, with 10GB available every month. This is an incredible offer, especially when you look at the price of this phone.
