Vivo’s rumored Smartphone with in-screen Fingerprint Scanner Spotted Online

Rumours about Vivo being the First smartphone manufacturer to launch a smartphone with under display fingerprint scanner were going around for quite a while. Finally, a prototype smartphone from Vivo with in-screen fingerprint scanner has been spotted online, and the company is expected to launch the smartphone in the first quarter of 2018. Analyst Patrick Moorhead has revealed that we will first see in-screen fingerprint scanner in Vivo smartphones.

The leaked image of the smartphone shows the in-display fingerprint scanner getting unlocked with just a tap. Synaptics last week announced that it had begun the mass production of under display fingerprint scanners and one of the top 5 smartphone makers will be using this technology.

According to Forbes Vivo is most likely the first company to test out the sensor on their smartphone. The technology will be named Clear ID, and according to the Synaptics, the technology will be faster than the 3D face recognition technology which was introduced by Apple in their newly launched iPhone X.

Synaptics further adding that 70 million units of the under display fingerprint scanner will be made available to the market in 2018.

According to the reports, Synaptics might demo the clear ID technology at CES 2018. Reports from Korea claims that other smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Huawei might also release Smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanner soon. Huawei P11, the upcoming smartphone from Huawei, is expected to have the on-screen sensor.
