Galaxy S series is the most successful lineup of the world’s renowned company, Samsung. It is the best and the one towards the flagship side of smartphones. The budget segment, on the other hand, has the least attention from Samsung. It looks like Samsung leaves their J series on their own without updates.
Google already announced their Android Go OS last year for supporting devices with runty hardware. Some recent leaks revealed that the Samsung is working on an entry-level Android Go device. Spotted on the GeekBench which stated its model number as SM-J260G.
As per the tests from Geekbench, the device will come with Android 8.1.0 Oreo OS out of the box with 1GB of RAM. There are so many devices with 1GB RAM under the J-series but running on Android 8.1 is a little skeptical. It will ready to come with Samsung’s own Exynos 7570 Quad-Core processor. The frequency clocked is 1.43 GHz here which not too bad also.
The device will run on the Android Go operating system which tends to run on very runty hardware. It even scores a decent score on the GeekBench further. Receiving 623 on Single-Core and 1756 on Multi-Core is pretty high for a device with 1GB RAM.
According to the leaks, we saw the same model number earlier with a little more disclosed information. The information suggests that the device will be available in countries like India, Nepal, and Bangladesh and many more. We still don’t know how it will be available to the customers there. We have to wait for some additional information to confirm that it is an Android Go smartphone.
