You must think that Facebook is master at copying its features. Five years ago Facebook Messenger took a hint from Whatsapp and launched voice messaging for its service.
Four months ago it was being reported that Instagram was testing its the voice messaging feature, and voice messaging is rolling out globally on Instagram Direct today.
Users who want to use this feature can record messages by holding down the microphone button.
It is going to send automatically when you release the button, so if you are feeling like that you don’t sound good about sending it or want to re-record, you can slide your finger over to the trash can button to delete it.
Voice messages can be recorded up to one-minute long, stay permanently listenable rather than disappearing and work in one-on-one and group chats on iOS and Android.
Communication through voice messages is increasingly becoming the preferred method of communication on different major platforms such as WeChat and WhatsApp, this amazing addition might be a welcome feature for some users.
Ironically, voice messages can also be the “end of Instagram” as it becomes heavily involved with Facebook’s own features.
Either this feature is going to be successful for Instagram or it might be a failure as it is going to make Instagram just like the other messaging apps.
