is the next generation of cellular technology, and it is going to be a big thing when it will be released next year. And phone carrier companies are getting excited about it.
AT&T is going to fool their customers by showing a 5G logo the corner of their smartphone next year. They are not going to be using a 5G phone connected to a 5G network, but because AT&T is going to start pretending its most advanced 4G LTE tech is 5G.
According to the news reports, AT&T is going to display an icon which reads are “5G E” on newer phones that are connected to LTE in markets where the carrier has deployed a handful of speed boosting but still it will be 4G technologies.
The “E” which will be displayed will be smaller than “5G” which refers to “5G Evolution” the carrier’s term for networks that aren’t quite 5G but are still faster than normal LTE.
The only thing is that 5G E isn’t actually 5G., in reality, is just an improved and advanced version of 4G LTE with some confusing marketing language.
AT&T said that:
“The company will roll this out on a handful of devices, with more devices showing the indicator in spring 2019.”
